Top 4 New Year’s Tips

Let’s all paws for a minute to reflect on all those glorious ‘New Year, New Me’ resolutions we made a few minutes before the end of 2021 and which we have by and large abandoned by now.

We’re willing to bet money that the majority of new year resolutions made across the country are health focussed. And even if we are avoiding mirrors post our Christmas binge, the slightly more rotund appearance of our furry friends is there to remind us that health is important for everybody in the family, irrespective of how many legs they have.

If thinking about how to get yourself in shape is exhausting you, there’s no need to worry about your pup because we’ve made it super simple with our New Year Health Packs! They suit your all fur-baby’s needs including Weight Management, Older Dogs, Dental Care, Skin & Coat Care, Digestion & Gut Support and Fussy Eaters.

HOWEVER, in addition to that we’re helping you out with three FOUR new year’s resolution that work for all the members of the family – furry or otherwise.

1. MOVE MORE

It doesn’t have to be exercise… well not intentionally. It can be going for walks, dancing in the kitchen or splashing about at the beach.  Whatever gets you all spending time together, moving your limbs and enjoying all the benefits of an Australian summer.

2. MUNCH INTENTIONALLY

Sometimes we can’t get out of our own way when it comes to eating. We make it very complicated. But we don’t have to manically diet or throw out all the treats.

For us that looks suspiciously like regular intakes of fruit and vegetables but for our four-legged friends it could be that using a meal topper  would be the easiest way to ensure they are getting the best nutrition in their meals. For our canine companions with sensitive digestive systems or recovering from an illness it might look like a bone broth, for our fussy eaters and to ensure shiny coats and healthy skin you might think about adding some seafood to their meal, or perhaps you’re wanting an option that makes both you and your pup feel good, in which case you’ll be loving these delicious free range chicken bites .

For those of you wanting to treat your feline overlord, they can be won over very simply with this scrumptious air-dried lamb and mackerel recipe.

3. EMBRACE MINDFULNESS

We know. It’s one of those words that make you groan because of overuse but it is simply about maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, sensations and environment in an accepting, non-judgemental way. It helps us to live more fully in the moment and present positively.  And I think we can all agree that is a jolly good way to try and live your life.  For our furry friends who are less inclined to embrace this ancient Buddhist practice with the enthusiasm it deserves, you can help them on their wellness journey in an entirely more practical way.

It was only going to be three, but as we were writing this, it occurred to us that there is one final new year’s resolution which we want our wonderful WONDERPETS community to embrace and that is this:

4. LOVE YOURSELF THE WAY YOUR PET LOVES YOU

That’s right. Love yourself SICK. Your pet thinks you are the most amazing, loveable, and interesting person IN THE WORLD.  Believe them.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2022 for you and your families.
